The Second Edition of the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards will this year take place on 26 July 2022 at the Boardwalk Convention Centre, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape South Africa showcasing the achievements of the Southern African leading exporters.

Since its inception in 2021 the awards programme has recognized firms in the nine (9) participating countries (Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa,  and Zambia) towards achieving sustainable growth, increase export competitiveness, economic integration and grow trade with the USA and between the Southern Africa countries.

The 2022 awards will showcase successful Southern Africa export firms across various
categories which are:·         

EXPORTER OF THE YEAR AWARD -  
SOUTH AFRICAN MARKET & UNITED STATES MARKET
      
BUYER OF THE YEAR AWARD – 
SOUTH  AFRICAN MARKET & UNITED STATES MARKET
 
CAPITAL PROVIDER OF THE YEAR AWARD
 
TRADE PROMOTION SERVICE PROVIDER OF THE YEAR AWARD

All the participating countries have concluded their Exporter Awards events and one award winner per country will be participating in  the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards event. Applications are invited from participating countries to nominate or support  exemplary behaviour in all categories.

A full panel of internationally experienced judges in the export field have been appointed to assist with the adjudication process. The Adjudication process will be audited by a Professional Auditing Firm.

The Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards is a collaboration between the ECDC and the U.S. Government, through the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub (USAID TradeHub). The USAID TradeHub engages with all nine participating countries to increase sustainable growth, export competitiveness, and trade between these countries and South Africa, and collectively with the United States.

Judging Criteria

The Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards Ceremony judging panel is drawn from the private and public sectors comprising of experts with international business experience. All information supplied by each applicant will be treated as strictly confidential with all judges signing an NDA agreement before the process commences. Each category has their specific criteria as outlined in the Categories & Sponsors section.

MEET OUR JUDGES

Areas applicants should focus on include:

Export growth achieved and the ability to sustain that growth;

Evidence of sustainable competitive advantage;

Value and contribution to the exporting sector and intention for business expansion or reason for not expanding;

The degree of innovation;

The overall company commitment to international business;

Highlight one key positive step the business has taken towards Sustainable Trade
